International President Edwin D. Hill: The State Of Our Union 2005

“State of Our Union” is the video message from International President Ed Hill that has generated attention throughout the construction industry. President Hill speaks directly to rank and file IBEW members in the construction industry, with plain talk and common sense about the union's goals, future and commitment to excellence—and the obstacles, including self-imposed problems—that prevent the IBEW from succeeding. Released in the summer of 2005, this message has won praise from IBEW members, other trades, contractors, those who use the services of the unionized electrical construction industry.

IBEW-NECA: Partners in Success–video

This 8-minute video features representatives from both the IBEW and NECA telling how the Mutual Gains Bargaining Workshop and Partners for the 21st Century program have helped them overcome problems at the local level and improve conditions for all parties in the industry. The testimonials are true, relating many gains–particularly the gain that is the chief target of all IBEW-NECA partnering efforts: increasing market share for our team by improving cooperation, productivity, and customer relations.

After all, as more than one person featured on the video relates, in today’s rapidly changing market for power and voice-data-video services, customers are demanding more than ever from their electrical contracting providers. And they have more work opportunities than ever to offer to contractors and electrical works that can meet their needs. But, one thing these demanding customers won’t stand for is any kind of ill will between labor and management that gets in the way of quality service delivery. They can always turn to someone else!

The NECA-IBEW Team:
Utilities’ Formula for Success–magazine insert

With the restructuring of the electrical utility industry continuing and becoming more intense in various states, it’s prime time for the "outside or line construction element of the electrical construction industry to come to the fore.

Utilities seem to be moving, collectively, in a thousand different directions. Some are buying electrical contractors; some are shedding employees. IN this ear of change, opportunity is presenting itself to line contractors of all stripes–union and non-union.

That’s why the IBEW and NECA, working through their National Labor-Management Cooperation Committee, placed a special four-page insert in the April 2000 edition of Transmission and Distribution World, the leading magazine reaching the decision-makers in the electric utility industry.
